I gave a 3 because I boarded my dog here and I have no doubt that she received the best of care. I spoke with a young lady who I think takes care of the kennels, and she was so kind and friendly with both me and my dog. However, when it came to training me, I was disappointed. Col is an awesome trainer and I felt so respected by him and he handled my dog well. No issues there whatsoever...great professionalism. However, it was my experience with another trainer who took the main class who did not seem that respectful towards me and even a couple of other people that I witnessed. Examples: I did my best to get a middle position as I have a hearing loss. When I asked this trainer to repeat something he had just said, he rolled his eyes at me and asked me what part didn't I hear? If I knew that, I wouldn't have asked the question. He was rude and down right belittling to me in front of the rest of the group. It certainly was not an experience that made me feel like I wanted to go back, but I didn't know anywhere else to go, so I kept persisting. Another week, I had my car keys and small items kept in a plastic bag taken from me and he threw them to the side. Afterwards, he asked if there was anything breakable. There wasn't, but a very simple mention to empty my hands so I can control the lead better would have sufficed rather than such a scene, again in front of the whole group. I'm the first to put up my hand, that I had a lot of trouble controlling my dog, after all, that is what I was there to learn. This rude trainer repeated often that I needed "to get control of that staffy". Of course I did...I didn't need it mentioned repeatedly...it was why I was there. What really stopped me from attending though, was his dealings with someone else. The woman beside me had a naturally high voice and called her Staffy a very cutesy name. She was doing her best to instruct her dog, with her cutesy nickname for her dog. I get it that the trainer was trying to teach her to use a stronger voice (tone), to control her dog, but he chose to mimic her voice, repeating her every word including her dogs cutesy pet name. Humiliation is not part of any training strategy that I know of, and is simply wrong. It's disrespectful to your customers who have paid good money to board their dog and get some help training. I'm actually writing this review 1 year down the track, as I finally got the education, respect and patience I needed to work with my dog in order to train her. It's a shame I needed to go elsewhere though to do that. I wanted to write about my experience long ago but to be honest, I thought why bother, they must know what he is like and always I decided to leave it. However, now with a calm and trained dog by my side, I can finally say what I wanted to say. For boarding....fantastic! For training my dog and getting the ball rolling, yep some merit there. But training me with respect and patience? Some trainers need training themselves in how to deal with people and professionalism.
